Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar’s 2.0 to release during April 2018?
Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar‘s 2.0 is the biggest and most awaited film of 2018. However, there is still no clarity on when the movie will hit the screens. After several delays in the post production work, the makers were unsure if they would make their deadlines. And hence, they left the Republic Day (January 26) slot and let Padman take over. There were reports of a March or April release for the movie, but there has been no official confirmation about this yet. But according to the trade, looks like Rajinikanth’s 2.0 has taken some inspiration from Prabhas’ Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and will now release in April, the same month when the latter released.

As a Bengaluru based film distributor revealed to IB Times, “The next available big date for release is April 14, which coincides with the celebration of Tamil New Year. The examination season will be more or less over. So, the makers are apparently eyeing the holiday season for the release of 2.0. The makers seem to have understood the potential of releasing the film in April as family audience will be looking out opportunities to watch good movies in theatres. So, it will be a good decision to release 2.0 in April. Let’s not forget the film is rich in VFXs and kids will love to watch such film. Baahubali makers clearly understood this and released the second part in April.”
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion benefitted massively courtesy the holiday period in the second half of April and we are sure 2.0 will also reap rewards. However, it remains to be seen whether 2.0 releases on April 14 or April 28 (like Baahubali 2).
