Salman Khan may have broken and created many records with Sultan but here is one record where Akshay Kumar may leave him behind, with Rustom.

He is rightfully termed as the most bankable star of Bollywood.
Salman Khan‘s film Sultan might have broken many records, but Akshay Kumar is one superstar who sets his own records. The Khiladi Kumar might just create history if his film Rustom enters the Rs 100 crores club this year. And if trade predictions are to be believed then there’s no stopping Akshay from setting Rs 100 crores hattrick record.

Akshay‘s films may not do business like Sultan or a PK or even a Chennai Express, but Khiladi Kumar is surely the most bankable star we have today. Since his debut in Saugandh, he has been consistently churning out successful movies.

This year started on a high note for Akshay, with his movie Airlift doing well both critically and commercially, not to forget it entered the Rs 100 crores club domestically. Few months later, he gave another Rs 100 crores hit domestically with Housefull 3. On August 12, the actor will be back again on silver screen with one of his hottest movies in trade circles, Rustom. This will be his third movie this year and if it touches 100 crores as well, this will be a record where a top star delivers three back-to-back Rs 100 crores films in a year. No Khan in Bollywood has ever achieved this feat.

Of course Rustom is releasing alongside Hrithik Roshan‘s Mohenjo Daro and both are big films to start with but as per our trade expert and editor of Super Cinema Mr Amul Mohan, even this face-off cannot stop Akshay from delivering a hit. Mohan said, “Obviously Rustom is a big film and its trailer has been hugely liked by the audience. In fact, both films (Rustom and Mohenjo Daro) are big and of course when two big films release on a same day they eat into each other’s business.” He also added, “I don’t want to compare both the movies but Akshay may have an edge due to his successful stint at the box office this year with two super hits Airlift and Housefull 3 with both doing Rs 100 crores plus business at domestic box office and due to all round positive response to the trailer of Rustom.”

While this feat of giving three 100 crores successes in a single year may be unheard off for an A list male star, it’s definitely not new for Bollywood, if one remembers correctly, Deepika Padukone gave, not three but, four Rs 100 crores plus successes in the year 2013- Race 2, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Chennai Express and Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela all joining Rs 100 crores club.

We can only hope the Rowdy Rathore star delivers another Rs 100 crores success and create a record which will be difficult to break as no other top male star releases more than two movies in a year.
