Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra’s Baar Baar Dekho is all set to release on September 9, so we talk to our trade experts to know how the film will fare at the box office…

Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra are coming together for a film for the first time with their modern day love story – Baar Baar Dekho. BBD is one of the most exciting films of 2016 and as it releases this Friday ( September 9), we are damn excited about the movie. The story line of Baar Baar Dekho is quite unique as Jai (Sidharth) finds himself time hopping every time he sleeps. He discovers how things go bad between him and Diya (Katrina) as they age. He then goes back in time, but will he be able to save their relationship? He does try! This unique concept paired with the sizzling jodi and some chart busters has made Baar Baar Dekho a must watch this weekend! But how will fare at the box office? We called up our trade experts to find out and this is what they had to say…
Talking about the hype around Baar Baar Dekho, our trade expert – Amul Mohan (Editor of Super Cinema) revealed to us, “The buzz around the film is good and we have all the songs pick up in the past few days. In fact, Baar Baar Dekho has given us one of the biggest songs of the year. To add to this, everybody is talking about Sidharth and Katrina’s sizzling chemistry. So, the buzz is really strong and I think the film will open well.”
Adding to these points, Akshaye Rati (exhibitor and distributor) mentions, “The buzz around the film is pretty good, largely courtesy the music. It is virtually a very complete album as you see that every track has worked – whether it is Nachde Ne Saare or Kala Chashma, which has become the leading track of the album. So music has given BBD the impetus it needs and add to that the fresh pairing of Sidharth and Katrina who are coming together for the first time. Both of them are good looking young actors, so all of that in a film like this, which is a light-hearted romantic film, works well as a package.”
But how much will it rake in over the first weekend? Amul Mohan mentions to us EXCLUSIVELY, “Baar Baar Dekho should ideally open in the range of Rs 8-9 crore, which is slightly lower but films like these pick up over the weekend. It is a very different, urban love story with Sidharth and Katrina traveling in time, going back and forth. That will be a grasping thing for the audience and we have to look at how they grasp it. But I guess those are superficial things and once the audience connects with the story, they connect with the story, PERIOD! It should collect Rs 8-9 crore on day one and a strong first weekend is on the cards. In fact, the songs are very popular too! Not one, but the whole album has picked up, which is a good thing for the film and will benefit it. Most of the other films base their campaigns around one song, but this is not the case for Baar Baar Dekho. They have a big song in terms of Kala Chashma, but the others have picked up too. It will have a very good weekend number and it surely has the legs to be in the top 5 Highest weekend grosser of 2016.”
Akshaye agrees, as he suggests, “I think on day one, Baar Baar Dekho will conveniently make Rs 8.50 crore and if the evening shows really do well, then it can collect Rs 9.50 crore too. And over the weekend, if the reports are nice and looks like they will be nice, BBD will make anything between Rs 25-30 crore.”
Our trade experts also reveal to us that the Nitya Mehra directorial has been made on a decent budget of Rs 50 crore (Rs 35 crore – COP and Rs 12-15 crore as P&A).
