Rajput Karni Sena has completely rejected the movie and has demanded a nationwide ban for Padmavat
Despite getting the CBFC certificate and a new release date, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati (now Padmavat) continues to face backlash from Rajput Karni Sena. They have now said that just by changing the title of the film and making mere modifications in the disclaimer they can’t fool our sentiments and can’t justify the defamation of our goddess queen of Chittor. The chief of Karni Sena, Lokendra Singh Kalvi quoted, “The film brings disgrace to Rani Padmini and it is an attack on Rajput pride. The film presents distorted facts and threatens to shake India’s cultural identity. We ask the government and CBFC, why they are silently witnessing this defamation of India’s pride? Why do they feel the compulsion to release a film that hurts the sentiments of people? The compromise made between the censor board and makers of Padmavati cannot be accepted. We warn that theatres releasing the film would have to face detrimental consequences?”

The self-vigilante group also questioned the authenticity and credibility of CBFC and said, “The CBFC is misleading us by saying that a team of historians reviewed the film while the truth is that not all of the panelists were historians and hence their suggestions cannot be comprehended. Moreover, the CBFC proposed to bring in nine historians in the panel but ended up calling only three. This depicts their lack of seriousness towards our concerns.”
The magnum opus, which features Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor in key roles was cleared by CBFC with five modifications, mainly in the disclaimer, changing the name from Padmavati to Padmavat and the song named Ghoomar. However, Karni Sena has completely rejected the movie and has demanded a nationwide ban for Padmavat. The film has already been banned in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh. Since the film is clashing with Akshay Kumar’s Padman during the Republic Day weekend, we are expecting a great box office battle between these two movies. But which film will win this battle? Let us know you thoughts in the comments section below.
