We had earlier wrote about how, despite several claims that it is, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is not Doosra Aadmi. Doosra Aadmi was well, about a widow finding out that a young man she is working for has semblance to her dead husband, and is obsessed with him. This Yash Chopra produced film starred Rishi Kapoor, Raakhee, Neetu Singh and Shashi Kapoor in the lead. Incidentally Rishi Kapoor’s son, and Shahi Kapoor’s grand-nephew, Ranbir Kapoor plays the main lead in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, along with Anushka Sharma and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Fawad Khan plays an important supporting role, while Shah Rukh Khan has a cameo in the film. Pritam scores the music for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and the title track and Bulleya songs are already topping the charts. The film is scheduled to release on October 28, but it’s not alone. It has a huge competitor in Shivaay, Ajay Devgn’s pet project that he has mounted on a lavish scale. However the family audiences and couples would have thing for Karan Johar and the romantic sagas that he has to offer. After all, even Student of the Year was a hit, despite being one of Karan’s weaker efforts.

So yeah … the trailer of the film has come out, and it cleared away speculations that Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is a remake of Doosra Aadmi, something Karan Johar has been insisting for quite sometime.

Here are five such films that fought rumours that they were remakes, only for the release to prove otherwise:

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
Rumoured remake: Doosra Aadmi

The ADHM trailer has clearly showed us that the movie has nothing to do with Rishi Kapoor’s Doosra Aadmi. More than Ranbir-Ash equation, it’s Ranbir-Anushka relationship that’s the spine of the film. Just because the hero is romancing an older heroine, doesn’t mean that it is Doosra Aadmi. Period.

Sultan
Rumoured remake: Rocky

Another film that fell victim to such baseless claims, because both Sultan and Rocky belong to same genre – sports drama. The two may share common themes like underdog winning, hitting rock bottom and then rising….But Sultan was about wrestling and MMA, while Rocky was boxing. Even the plot of Sultan had nothing to do with the Oscar-winning film.

FAN

Rumoured remake: Robert De Niro’s The Fan

Both Shah Rukh Khan’s film and Robert De Niro’s flick had three things in common – the title, both were about crazy fans and both bombed at the box office. But apart from that there was nothing similar between these two films.

Kal Ho Naa Ho
Rumoured remake: Anand

Shah Rukh Khan and Rajesh Khanna both played dying men in the film, and both loved to spread happiness in other’s lives (to the point of being too intrusive). However every character in Anand knew that Rajesh Khanna’s character was dying, while in KHNH only Aman’s closest family members knew about his condition before it was revealed to others accidentally later. Moreover, KHNH is more of a love story, where a dying man decided to lend out the love of his life to her best friend, so that they can happily live ever after. Anand meanwhile was more of a slice of life story, than focussed more on the friendship between Anand and his cynical doctor.

Baar Baar Dekho
Rumoured remake: Time Traveller’s Wife and About Time

When we learnt that Baar Baar Dekho had elements of time travel interspersed into its love story, we had doubts whether the film is a remake of the Eric Bana – Rachel McAdams’ tearjerker, Time Traveller’s Wife or About Time, which also starred Rachel McAdams. However, the final film, starring Katrina Kaif and Sidharth Malhotra proved to be an original film, only a bad one at that!
