Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati and Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer Tiger Zinda Hai will be next entrant in the list for sure
2017 has not been the best year for the entertainment industry. Many films have performed below expectations at the box office. While big budget flicks like Jab Harry Met Sejal, Rangoon and A Gentleman faced huge rejection from the public, small but content-driven films like Newton, Bareily Ki Barfi, Shubh Mangal Savdhan and Hindi Medium performed very well at the box office. In this year, eight Bollywood films excluding Baahubali 2 has entered the elite club of Rs 100 crore. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati and Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer Tiger Zinda Hai will be next entrant in the list for sure.

Here are the top 10 films, who made phenomenal records at the box office:

Baahubali 2
Though Baahubali 2 is not a Bollywood film, the business which its Hindi version has done, it’ll be difficult for the Bollywood biggies even to come near that in the coming days. The magnum opus collected over Rs 40 Crores for 4 continuous days at the box office. The film inaugurated the Rs 400 crore and Rs 500 Crore club in India. Lead actor Prabhas achieved supreme stardom in Hindi market for significant character Baahubali. By shattering every box office record, Baahubali 2 (Hindi) collected Rs 511 crore in its theatrical run.
Varun Dhawan starrer Judwaa 2 received a thunderous response at the box office during its release. It didn’t only become Varun’s highest solo opener but also his highest grosser of all time. The masala entertainer was very well received by the audience and it went on to earn Rs 138 crore.

Raees
Post the debacle of Fan, Shah Rukh Khan bounced back with his crime action flick Raees. The trailer and music had done enough for the film to give it a big opening. Moviegoers praised SRK’s different avatar and the supporting cast of the film. The controversy around Raees related to Pakistani artistes also helped it to attract the crowd in the theaters. The lifetime business of Raees stands at Rs 137.51 crore.

Toilet – Ek Prem Katha
Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s social drama Toilet – Ek Prem Katha opened with a decent response at the box office. But the positive word of mouth helped the film and give a great boost in the business. With tax-free status in many states, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha sustained well at the box office. The moderately budgeted film raked Rs 134.22 crore at the ticket windows in its lifetime run.

Golmaal Again
The 4th installment of Golmaal franchise open to packed houses at the box office. The film completely utilized the festive season of Diwali and is currently shattering many records in each passing day. Till now, Golmaal Again has raked Rs 126.94 crore at the box office. With one open week ahead, the horror-comedy is expected to achieve milestones in the domestic market.

Tubelight
Though Salman Khan starrer Tubelight holds the 6th position in the list, the film has turned out to be one of the biggest disappointments of this year. Since the blockbuster jodi of Salman Khan and director Kabir Khan were coming back after Ek Tha Tiger and Bajrangi Bhaijaan, the expectations from Tubelight was sky-high. But the film failed to connect with the audience and ended its theatrical run with the business of Rs 119.26 crore.

Jolly LLB 2
After giving back to back hits with Airlift, Housefull 3 and Rustom, Khiladi Akshay Kumar continued its successful run at the box office with Jolly LLB 2. The goodwill of the previous installment helped Jolly LLB 2 to create good buzz around it. With an engaging screenplay, the courtroom drama received good reviews from the critics and moviegoers alike. Made on the budget of Rs 45 crore, the film collected Rs 117 crore at the box office.

Badrinath Ki Dulhania
The hit pair of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt charmed the audience again with Badrinath Ki Dulhania. The chartbuster music, the relevant desi angle and the sizzling chemistry between the lead pair made this romantic comedy a big box office hit. With the box office collection of Rs 116.68 crore, the film also went on became Alia Bhatt’s highest grosser of all time.

Kaabil
Since Hrithik Roshan’s Mohenjo Daro, failed miserably at the box office, Kaabil was a very crucial film for him. Despite clashing with Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees, Kaabil managed to make a mark at the box office. The performance of Hrithik was widely appreciated by the critics. With the perfect combination of good direction and acting performances, the crime-thriller collected Rs 103.84 crore.

Baadshaho
Milan Luthria’s Baadshaho featured the ensemble star cast of Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Vidyut Jammwal, Ileana D’cruz, Esha Gupta and Sanjai Mishra. Due to the fan following of lead actors, the film opened well at the box office. But the negative word of mouth soon started affecting the business of Baadshaho. The action flick underperformed at the box office and collected Rs 79 crore in its lifetime run.
