Ae Dil Hai Mushkil worked splendidly for a few reasons and we have listed out five of them.
Diwali has more often than once has seen big Bollywood clashes. If there was an Om Shanti Om vs Saawariya, there was also Golmaal 3 and Fashion. In the first instance, one triumphed over the other while in the later case, both had a Happy Diwali at the box office. In Ae Dil Hai Mushkil‘s case, which released with Shivaay, it definitely took charge at the box office from the outset. And there are various reasons for that. Let us tell you five of them.

#Kkkk….Karan johar

There is something about Karan Johar and his films which get to you even if you are the most unlikely person to fall for it. Yes, his films are riddled with cliches but then they work everytime. He understands the pulse of the audience. He understands love, heartbreak and how to portray emotions in a film. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has that in plenty. Unrequited love is the premise here which will stir something in you because we have all been there, done that. ADHM isn’t the best in that genre but it definitely touches a chord and hence, the numbers.

# Shah Rukh Khan’s cameo

Karan Johar believes in having good looking people in his films. So he had Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Fawad Khan and Imran Abbas. But the masterstroke was getting Shah Rukh to do a cameo. Man, we haven’t drooled on anyone the way we drooled over him. SRK is just incredibly good even in that small role. And then he mouths the ‘Ek tarfa pyaar..’ dialogue making us swoon over him some more. All this while we thought, it was Ranbir’s dialogue but it wasn’t and that made it even more alluring. It’s the best kept secret which made people go watch the film.
#Music always wins

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’s music has managed to captivate listeners since day one. The title track was the best song we have heard this year. Arijit Singh’s heartfelt rendition struck a chord with us and millions of others. Even our editor in chief heard it 20 times. Other songs from the album was equally popular. And when a film gets its music right, half the battle is won. Credit also goes to the way they are shot and trust only Karan Johar to do full justice to it. He knows how to make songs look dreamy. Chartbusters thus made ADHM a chart-topper.

#Ranbir Kapoor-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s sizzling chemistry

Bollywood films have matured enough over the years but a romance between an older woman and younger man are still seen with some trepidation. However with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, all anyone will talk about is how such romances make for the most passionate ones. Ranbir and Aishwarya’s chemistry was exactly that. Never did they look weird or strange. They fit perfectly. It also helped that Ash was looking gorgeous like a goddess. We so wish this was her comeback film. She is breathtakingly beautiful which has made her the favourite of many. That has pulled people to the theatre a lot.
#Touch of all things KJo

Karan had himself called Kuch Kuch Hota Hai silly but we still love it. Why? Kyunki pyaar dosti hai. KJo used this same plot in ADHM and it worked tremendously well. Then there was the whole mature romance. And there’s Shah Rukh Khan, his lucky charm. Fans and audience couldn’t be happier.
