Ranveer Singh’s much awaited historical drama, Padmaavat will hit screens next week and the actor has all the possible reasons to be on cloud nine these days. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus made headlines for all the wrong reasons and after facing severe criticism from several fringe groups. But now the movie will have a smooth release. And while his co-stars, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor are busy with their other commitments, Ranveer has already started shooting for his next with Zoya Akhtar. Ranveer will be next seen as a rapper romancing Alia Bhatt in Zoya’s Gully Boy and the shooting for the same is currently going on in Mumbai. From being a fierce and mighty ruler in Padmaavat to a boy-next-door in Gully Boy, Ranveer’s on screen transformation has been commendable. Two distinct movies with equally distinct avatars – Ranveer will offer a variety of roles and characters to his fans this year.
We heard stories about how he was bulking up and working hard on his body to suit the might character of Alauddin Khilji in Padmaavat. The Befikre actor had to shoot for some intense battle scenes with Shahid Kapoor and having a toned physique then was a necessary. Ranveer spent several hours in gym, toning himself and working out hard to get the right beefed up look and the result was very evident. From gaining weight to shedding the same for his next was an uphill task but he was a game for it. Should we say, Ranveer followed in Aamir Khan’s footsteps? The actor had surprised us with similar transformation during Dangal. With actors giving us such new motivation every day, we wonder if there’s a way where we can’t fall for them! You will see Ranveer in much leaner avatar in Gully Boy and yes, he will have a no-beard look for the same. For anyone who’s tired of seeing him with that beard, here’s some good news!
For the ones who don’t know, the story is about an underdog who rises from slums and goes on to become a big rapper. It’s an interesting take on the typical rag to riches story. Reports state, the story is based on the life of real life rapper artists – Divine and Naezy, but Zoya Akhtar has mentioned, while the two artists are being consulted for this film, the story per say is not inspired by anyone.
