Rajinikanth’s multilingual “Kabali” continues to do well at the Chennai box office. The movie has made a fantastic collection in the capital city of Tamil Nadu in 10 days.

“Kabali” collected Rs. 2.21 crore from 609 shows in its second weekend. Rajinikanth’s film did not face any competition and ruled the Chennai box office for the second consecutive weekend. The 10-day collection of the flick stands at Rs. 8.26 crore, reports Behindwoods.

The movie raked in Rs. 3.49 crore in its first weekend. Post opening weekend, the trade experts had predicted the business of “Kabali” to slow down following the mixed reviews. But the collections remained good as it earned Rs. 2.55 crore from 1056 shows in week days (Monday-Thursday).

“Kabali” has done exceptionally well at Tamil Nadu box office and the movie has reportedly grossed over Rs. 60 crore in the state. The business is also good in neighbouring state Kerala. Among the overseas centres, it has been grandly welcomed by the audience in the U.S., and Malaysia.

But the Telugu version of “Kabali” in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana has not performed up to the expectations. The business of the flick saw a huge dip post its first weekend.

“Kabali” is produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu and directed by Pa Ranjith. Radhika Apte plays the female lead in the flick, which has Dhansika, Kishore and others in the cast.

Coming back to the Chennai box office, Hollywood movies have done notable collection in the last weekend. “Lights Out” is in the second position here by raking in Rs. 16.83 lakh from 75 shows.

It is followed by Steven Spielberg’s “The BFG,” which has collected Rs. 11.97 lakh from 60 shows. Supernatural comedy “Ghostbusters” is in the fourth place by earning Rs. 7.77 lakh from 45 shows and “Star Trek Beyond” could only collect Rs. 1.73 lakh from 12 shows in its second weekend to take its total tally to Rs. 7.51 lakh.
