Despite many new releases Rani Mukerji’s Hichki has managed to survive well at the box office. The school drama raked in Rs 65 lakhs in its fifth weekend and now stands with the grand total of Rs 45.20 crore at the ticket windows. Looking at the current trend, we are expecting the film to end its theatrical run by earning more around Rs 50 to 60 lakhs.
Sine Hollywood biggie, Avengers: Infinity War is arriving this Friday, Hichki will be out from almost all the screens at the ticket windows. Though we must say that, it has turned out to be a huge profitable venture for its makers. Apart from the domestic market, the film also earned well in the overseas markets. Apart from Rani Mukerji, the film also stars Neeraj Kabi, Sachin and Supriya Pilgaonkar in pivotal roles. Hichki is directed by Siddharth P Malhotra, who previously helmed Kajol and Kareena Kapoor Khan starrer We Are Family. Made on the reasonable budget of Rs 20 crore including promotion and advertising, the film had recovered its investment before its release through satellite, digital and other rights.

Rani also said that now she will not a huge break and will come back soon on the silver screen. “I will be doing more films because that is something I always love doing. But there was a gap for four years because of my marriage and baby. I wanted to see if the audience would be interested to see me onscreen. Now that I know, people are more than happy to see me onscreen, even I am ready. There are projects that I kept on hold before the release of ‘Hichki’ will see the light of the day.”
