We were really excited when we heard Albus Dumbledore name-dropped in the most recent Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trailer. We hoped and prayed that it was a sign we’d be seeing our dear old Dumbledore in the film. And our prayers may have been answered — just not right away.
“There is a mention of some characters that we know and love from previous movies, but we only talk about them fleetingly,” Fantastic Beasts director David Yates told Reuters. But, “in the next movie, part two, we’ll get to meet one of them in a significant way. He’s much younger than he used to be, but he’ll be coming back.”
OMG. It’s Dumbledore, right? It’s totally him. At least it would make sense, as Newt Scamander, the star of Fantastic Beasts, was expelled from Hogwarts at the exact same time Albus would have been just a lowly magical professor there. Maybe, if Newt makes an unauthorized return to the wizard boarding school he could run into Dumbledore in a “significant way.”
Honestly, we’d be happy to see any old Harry Potter character’s return in Fantastic Beasts. Sure, we are super excited to see everything new the film has to offer, but there’s no harm in bringing in some of the old fan favorites to make it even more epic! We love all things Potter, new and old. Now let us go back to rereading The Cursed Child.
