Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati has been grabbing headlines ever since the filmmaker announced that he is making the film. The much talked about film will finally go on floors with Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor. But the casting was not an easy task for SLB, especially finding the actor for the role of Padmavati’s husband Raja Rawal Ratan Singh. There were reports that earlier Bhansali took this role to Shah Rukh Khan and nothing got finalised.
But BollywoodLife has got an exclusive scoop on the same. A source told us, SRK wasn’t keen to do the second lead so he ignored it very smartly. The source said, “Shah Rukh who is busy with number of projects doubled his fee to reject the role. Now he is one of the highest paid actors and his demand was too huge for the film and so that didn’t happen”. Yes! Also there were was a strong buzz that due to Ranveer Singh’s tantrums SLB even approached SRK to play the lead Allauddin Khilji, but all that never happened and it was just a baseless rumour.
Also casting Shahid Kapoor as Deepika Padukone’s husband was a huge task for SLB. Obviously it’s a second lead and no actor was keen to take that risk, plus the character of Rawal Ratan Singh is known to be a very weak one. He was a King who loses his entire kingdom, power and even his wives to Sultan Allauddin Khilji. So no HERO was comfortable to play the role. But finally Sasha agreed with his conditions. There were reports that Shahid demanded a script change which created a rift between Ranveer and SLB. However Bhansali managed to make both his male leads happy. Also not only script changes, Sasha hiked his fees. BollywoodLife exclusively reported that Bhansali agreed to pay the actor Rs 9-10 crore for the role. Indeed this film will be one of the most memorable ones for SLB.
Currently all the actors are busy prepping for their characters and the film will soon go on floors. Also the actors are strictly asked not to divulge any details about the film. Recently at an event when DP was asked about Padmavati, she directly refuted and said, “I can’t talk anything about it”. Well we hope SLB manages to keep all the details about his film hush hush.
