Fans choose Hrithik Roshan over Mahesh Babu and Aamir Khan to play Krishna in Mahabharata.

Just when we thought Baahubali was the most expensive film made till date, came along Srikumar’s Menon’s Mahabharata. The film is based on MT Vasudevan Nair’s book – Randamoozham. As per reports, A UAE businessman BR Shetty will be investing in Rs 1000 crore into this mega budget project. Officially, this is the most expensive project that will be made beating Rajiniaknth’s 2.0 and SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali. For now, only Mohanlal has been confirmed to play Bheem as the book is from Bheem’s perspective. The rest of the cast is yet to be confirmed. But in a radio interview, Srikumar had confessed that he would want Mahesh Babu or Hrithik Roshan to play Krishna. At another event, Aamir Khan had expressed keenness to play the same role. That’s when we decided to conduct a poll to find out from our readers who should play Krishna between Mahesh Babu, Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan. And now we have the results.

Hrithik Roshan has won! He received 58% votes beating Mahesh Babu and Aamir Khan who received 32% votes and 10% votes respectively. Hrithik has raced ahead leaving behind the options far behind! Have to admit, what with his Greek God looks and his acting calibre, he would make more than a perfect Krishna. He has played a historical figure in past, and he pulled it off with finesse and grace. Now it’s time to take on a mythological figure? We are already picturing him in the role.

The film will be made in two parts. It will go on floors in 2018 and is expected to wrap bu 2020. Mammootty, Prithviraj, Manju Warrier, Aishwarya Rai, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and most recently even Prabhas are being considered for various characters. Interestingly, SS Rajamouli had opened about making Mahabharata in an earlier exclusive interview with Bollywoodlife. He finally revealed when he would take on Mahabharata – “I want to do Mahabharata and I have said that many times but definitely not immediately after Baahubali. Mahabharat is such an epic that I need to up my craftsmanship to handle such a subject. Yeah I met Aamir ji once quite sometime back, We spoke about Mahabharata. I know that he’s very much interested in doing the film. But as I said, at present I am not thinking anything beyond Baahubali. Mahabharata is definitely not after this.”
