Rana Daggubati and Akshay Kumar drove Dhanush out fo the theatres? Find out why
This week is big across Bollywood, Kollywood, Tollywood as three big tickets releases are hitting theatres on August 11 – Toilet; Ek Prem Katha, VIP2 and Nene Raju Nene Mantri. The Bollywood movie starring Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar is a romantic film with a social message, VIP 2 starring Dhanush, Kajol is the sequel to the 2014 hit movie – Velaiilla Pattadhari and Nene Raju Nene Mantri starring Rana Daggubati and Kajal Aggarwal is a love story set against the backdrop of a political drama. Interestingly, even though their films are releasing the same day, they aren’t exactly clashing. Why is that? Well, even though even though VIP 2 in Tamil is releasing this week, the Telugu and Hindi version are releasing only a week later. Have Akshay Kumar and Rana Daggubati driven Dhanush out of the theatres?

While it might look like Rana and Akshay scared Dhanush off, it is actually a smart move on behalf of the Tamil star. With big ticket releases in Bollywood (Toilet: Ek Prem Katha) and Tollywood (Nene Raju Nene Mantri) this week, screen count for VIP 2 in other languages would have reduced. Tapping the northern market is important for VIP 2 as the film also stars Bollywood actor Kajol. As for the Telugu version, the makers of VIP 2 are looking to widen the audience. Also if you look at it, the excitement for VIP 2 will continue into next week and that in turn will prolong the shelf life of a movie at the BO! However, Rana Daggubati’s Nene Raju Nene Mantri will release in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam on the same day.

Talking about VIP 2, Dhanush will return as Raghuvaran but this time with a brand new story. The star attraction of VIP 2 is Kajol who also happens to be making her comeback to Tamil cinema after 20 years. The film is directed by Soundarya Rajinikanth. The film also stars Amala Paul, Samuthirakani, Ritu Varma, Vivek among others.
