Ranbir Kapoor can get his biggest hit with Sanju…
Ranbir Kapoor‘s Sanju is getting a great response at the box office. It was expected to make people sit up and take note and it is doing exactly that. Although many critics are refraining from calling it a biopic because it has conveniently omitted many chapters from Dutt’s life, they are raving Ranbir and Vicky Kaushal’s act. Even audience has taken a huge liking for both the actors. That has helped the film to post a really good occupancy number which is much more than 60-70 percent. In fact, it is one of the best occupancy numbers of this year. Trade is predicting Rs 30 crore first-day figures and if that happens, Sanju will easily beat Salman Khan‘s Race 3. The latter is presently the second highest grosser of 2018 after Padmaavat.
If that does happen, it will be a really interesting box office game. Salman Khan’s Race 3 had earned little over Rs 29 crore in its first day. That’s one of the best first-day numbers for a Hindi film this year. If Sanju manages to clinch Rs 30, it will go past Salman which will be a feat in itself. Very rarely has any of Ranbir’s film managed to go anywhere near Salman’s first day total but Sanju has all the trappings for it. Ranbir’s highest one day acclaim goes to one of his biggest disappointments, Besharam (Rs 21.56 crore). The film released in 4000 screens (Race 3 had 4400 screens) and on a non-holiday weekend. Even after that the film manages to get a Rs 30 crore opening, it’ll not only be his career-best performance but career best opening day figures as well.
Trade expert has already predicted a Rs 100 crore weekend which if turns out true, might become Ranbir’s fastest Rs 100 crore film. Sanju can give Ranbir a lot of firsts if it manages to score what predictions are saying.
