Having a baby at 50 years old isn’t common or easy — and Janet Jackson is reportedly REALLY struggling. In fact, just months into her pregnancy, the singer is on bed rest and at high risk for complications after insane weight gain, according to a new report. Oh no!
Janet Jackson, 50, is already up to 250 pounds in her pregnancy — an over 100 lb. gain — and has now been ordered not to leave the house because she’s “at risk for serious complications,” according to OK! Magazine. The mag claims that doctors put the singer on bed rest, and that she’s very embarrassed that paparazzi caught her out in July because “she didn’t want anyone to see that she was already getting huge.”

Earlier this year, the singer cancelled her previously-scheduled tour to start “planning a family” with her husband, Wissam Al Mana. Less than a month later, in May, it was revealed that she was pregnant with her first child just shy of her 50th birthday — a very rare occurrence.

HollywoodLife.com spoke to experts at the time the news broke, and we learned that getting pregnant at Janet’s age is very risky, and can result in scary health complications. Dr. David Diaz explained that the 50-year-old would have to pay very close attention to her diet and weight because there’s an increased risk of hypertension, or high blood pressure, and development of gestational diabetes in older pregnant women.

If Janet really has gained this much weight while carrying her child, it’s obviously incredibly dangerous, so we do hope she’s getting all the rest and medical assistance she needs. Considering she has a gorgeous Malibu mansion to hide out in, the seclusion can’t be that bad, right?!
