Garth Davis’ Lion will open this year’s Zurich International Film Festival, which is set to run Sept. 22-Oct. 2.
The drama stars Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire) in the real-life story of a boy who, after being lost and traveling halfway across the world, finds his way back home 25 years later.
Rooney Mara and Nicole Kidman co-star in the pic, which The Weinstein Company is producing. Emile Sherman, Iain Canning and Angie Fielder produced together with executive producers Bob and Harvey Weinstein, David C. Glasser, Andrew Fraser, Shahen Mekertichian and Daniel Levin.
Davis and Harvey Weinstein are set to attend the fest’s opening-night screening of Lion, which will mark its European premiere.
