Meet the richest real life couple, Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone!
Today is Valentine’s day and it’s the right time to tell you about a myth that was busted successfully by Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone. Real life couples rarely strike gold at the box office but these two have been doing that with every film. Their on and off screen partnership began with Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela, followed by Bajirao Mastani and now Padmaavat. Although the last film doesn’t feature them opposite each other, it still minted a lot of money at the box office. So much so, that Ranveer-Deepika have become the most successful real life jodi as far as the ticket window is concerned. Let us tell you more about it…
THE APPEAL
Ranveer and Deepika make a really adorable couple. They are not big time into PDA but whenever they are spotted together, they are seen holding hands or giving each other a warm hug. The usually reserved Deepika had once playfully even kissed Ranveer on the cheek in front of the paps. If they have given us couple goals in real life, their chemistry on screen can set water on fire. They tried really hard to get away by claiming, they were just good friends after Ram Leela, but we knew that there was more than met the eye. And we were right! Soon we saw the two of them making appearances together and we even had Ranveer indirectly professing his love for her, while Deepika just blushed. Although they never accepted their relationship, the couple never denied it either, which worked as a seal of approval. BOX OFFICE AWARDS
Ranveer-Deepika set the box office on fire with their first film itself. Ram Leela became one of the biggest hits of Indian Cinema. It earned Rs 116.83 crore. Later, they reunited for Bajirao Mastani, which even shook Shah Rukh Khan’s throne. The film earned a whopping Rs 184.2 crore and more. Their love for each other fetched a huge applause from the audience yet again. Padmaavat just went bigger. It is now the most successful period drama that India has ever produced. As of now, the film has earned Rs 257 crore. So now, together, they have made Rs 554.33 crore – a number that no other real-life jodi has ever clocked in and we feel no one would ever manage to scale it either.
THE OTHERS
There are other real-life jodis too but they don’t really have big collections to write home about. Saif Ali Khan-Kareena might make a really good looking pair but in films, they were mostly rejected. They had only collected Rs 118.18 crore from their films together. Ajay Devgn and Kajol, one of our most favourite couples, only made Rs 90.5 crore at the box office despite doing a lot of films together. Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha Basu are a hot pair but box office doesn’t think so. A mere Rs 19.50 crore is all they made at the box office with Alone. Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, too, have worked in a couple of films, but even their total box office collection won’t be able to scale over Ranveer-Deepika’s record.
