Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu’s Pink has a good run at the box office as it collects Rs 25.29 crore in 4 days…
Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu‘s Pink has won a lot of hearts already and looks like it is having a very good run at the box office too. Pink, a courtroom drama, has appealed to the masses and worked really well at the multiplexes. The film had a decent start as it collected Rs 4.32 crore on day 1. It grew on Saturday and Sunday as it earned another Rs 7.65 crore and Rs 9.54 crore on day 2 and day 3 respectively, to take its total collection to Rs 21.51 crore over the first weekend. On day 4, Pink passed the crucial Monday test as it maintained a good occupancy and netted another Rs 3.78 crore to take its overall tally to Rs 25.29 crore in 4 days.
And looks like Pink will continue to perform well at the box office… As trade analyst Taran Adarsh revealed to us through his tweet, “#Pink continues it VICTORY MARCH on Mon… Fri 4.32 cr, Sat 7.65 cr, Sun 9.54 cr, Mon 3.78 cr. Total: Rs 25.29 cr. India biz.”
Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu’s Pink has performed way better than what was expected. Our trade expert – Akshaye Rathi (exhibitor and distributor) had mentioned that the buzz around the film was average and it would make around Rs 12 crore. Akshaye had revealed to us on Friday, “Pink is a niche film and we are expecting evening shows to pick up slightly. It might do around Rs 3.5 crore at on its opening day. If Pink picks up with good reports, it might make Rs 12 crore over the first weekend at least.” But with a weekend collection of Rs 21.51 crore, Pink has done phenomenal!
In fact, Amitabh’s Pink was made on a total budget of Rs 25 crore. As Akshaye explains to us, ” Pink shouldn’t have a COP (cost of production) of more than Rs 18-20 crore. With marketing and all Pink must have been made on Rs 25 crore.” This means, Pink has already made its money and is now in profit. And with a whole week ahead, followed by another weekend, Amitabh Bachchan’s film will make a very good profit.
All of this must be attributed to the content of the movie! Pink is a brilliant movie with a great message. The storyline and the performances of all the actors including Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu have been fabulous. The positives reviews and amazing word of mouth publicity has helped the film grow and sustain.
In the meanwhile, Emraan Hashmi‘s Raaz Reboot had a good opening on Friday and since then, it has had a very average run. Raaz Reboot has now collected Rs 20.70 crore in 4 days.
