Shah Rukh Khan is back today on the big screen with Dear Zindagi. The film also stars Alia Bhatt while SRK will be playing the role of Jehangir Khan who plays a psychiatrist in the film who comes in to rescue Alia’s character. As far as one can remember this will be the first time he’ll be playing a psychiatrist in a film. The 51-year old is probably the only actor who has played a variety of roles in his 25-year long career. He has done it all from the one in armed forces to a teacher, a mechanic, a sports coach, a salesman, a truck driver, a journalist, a gangster, a research scientist, an auto driver, an IAS officer, a businessman…phew…they are a hell lot of characters. The actor has portrayed almost all professions onscreen and as mentioned above he’ll be playing the character of a shrink for the first time. While we’ve to wait to see him perform the role effectively, here are five professions he has played with ultimate ease.

#Armed Forces

He has portrayed an army man in Army, Main Hoon Na and Jab Tak Hai Jaan, a naval officer in Bhoothnath and Bhoothnath Returns, an air force officer in Veer-Zaara and a cop in One 2 Ka 4. And oh boy how believable he was in all those uniforms. As they say, there is something about a man in uniform, SRK fills that bill very aptly.

#Sports Coach

Shah Rukh Khan has portrayed a cricket coach, a football and a hockey coach in films like Chamatkaar, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna and Chak De! India While Chamatkaar was a comedy with supernatural element to it, KANK was about extra marital affair and Chak De! India was a heartfelt tale of an underdog coach who does the unthinkable and coaches a dysfunctional team to the glory. In Chamatkaar, Cricket was an important part of it, in KANK he was a football coach to his son and in Chak De! India, Hockey was the main crux of the story and no points in guessing Shah Rukh Khan nailed it like a pro. So much so that, real life hockey players Deepika Thakur and Rani Rampal thanked him for bringing a change in the life of hockey players and giving the sport a much needed boost in a cricket crazy country. They even requested him for a sequel. And we hope he is listening.
#Mechanic

He has played a mechanic on screen in King Uncle, Josh and his recent Dilwale. But all three portrayals have been different from each other. If in King Uncle, he was a mechanic due to the circumstances, in Josh he was a mechanic cum gangster and in Dilwale, he was a mobster turned mechanic.

#Gangster

In films like Ram Jaane, Don and Don 2, he played a gangster or a mobster. While in Ram Jaane he was a gangster with a heart of gold, in Don and Don 2 he was as mean as it gets. It was his effective portrayal of Mob King in Don that even after playing the character of bad guy, audience fell in love with his mean turn.

#Actor

He portrayed his real life profession in reel life with Om Shanti Om, Billu and this years FAN. And what his applause worthy is, all three were different from each other, with OSO and Billu showing the struggle and glamorous side of it. FAN showing the dark side of being an actor.
