Alia Bhatt‘s unconventional choice of films has impressed one and all. After a Student of the Year, she chose to do a Highway and after a Badrinath Ki Dulhania, she has chosen to work on a Raazi. The actress is balancing between commercial and content-driven films very well. But what’s her mother, Soni Razdan’s take on her choice of films? In an exclusive interview with BollywoodLife, Soni not only revealed to us how proud she is of her daughter’s career, but also why she feels so!

Soni Razdan revealed to us exclusively, “I am very proud of Alia and very impressed by her. What I love about her is that, for example, in the Bollywood of yours, you’ve done a Student of the Year, which is a your typical kind of tailor made debut and after that you will do many more films like Student of the Year where you play a glamorous girl, who looks cute, wearing mini dresses and so! Normally, you would not choose a film like Highway as your second film. You’ll think of choosing it as your tenth movie. You’ll do nine similar films so that you can establish yourself. But what I love about her is that she straight away blew that myth and suddenly came out with this film that nobody expected. The minute I saw that song, I was like ‘Wow!’ I knew what was Highway, but I woke up to her abilities and talent with that song (Patakha Guddi and Maahi Ve) in Highway. And obviously she never looked back and I am happy with the movies she is working on!”

But does Soni Razdan give Alia career advice? And do they discuss films at home? The mother reveals, “Honestly, slightly (we discuss movies and scripts at home). Actually, she has a very good team in place, her management team. But we still do discuss films and I did give her advice because she was very young. The one thing that I told her was that, ‘I can tell you twenty things, but as an actor, you have to find your own path and it has to be your journey. So honestly, there is no point in me telling you as your mother that do it this way and do it that way, as it is not going to have any relevance in your career path. You have to chart out your own course.’” Check out our exclusive video above to see her whole reaction and share with us your thoughts about it in the comments section below!
